New Delhi: Minister of Minority Affairs in the Modi government, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that Waqf Boards will be constituted soon in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Leh-Kargil and an exercise has been started in this regard. After leading the Central Waqf Council meeting, Naqvi also said that after the abolition of Article 370, Waqf Boards will be used for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir and Leh-Kargil to ensure proper utilization of Waqf properties. For the use of properties for socio-economic-educational activities, there will be full support under "Prime Minister's Public Development Program" (PMJVK). The Union Minister further said that there are thousands of Waqf properties in Jammu and Kashmir and Leh-Kargil whose registration process is going on. The work of digitization and geotagging / GPS mapping of Waqf properties has also been started which will be completed soon. According to the minister, in the Central Waqf Council meeting, taking a serious stand on the manipulation of Waqf properties and occupation by mafias in many states, the state governments have been asked to ensure action against such Waqf mafias and ensure the safety and proper use of Waqf properties.
