New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu arrived in the capital on Monday to engage in high-level talks with key national leaders. Naidu is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss essential developmental projects, with top priority given to securing pending flood relief funds for the state. In addition to his meeting with the Prime Minister, Naidu has also sought an appointment with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The discussions are expected to focus on advancing critical railway projects, particularly the finalisation of the "Bhumi Puja Muhurta" (groundbreaking ceremony) for the much-anticipated Vizag Railway Zone, which is crucial for boosting transportation and infrastructure in the region. Another major topic on Naidu's agenda is the potential merger of the Visakha Steel Plant with the Steel Authority of India (SAIL). He will also address issues concerning World Bank funding for the development of Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh's capital city, and the release of funds for the Polavaram project. Naidu's visit is viewed as a significant step in bolstering Andhra Pradesh’s development efforts by securing central government support for infrastructure projects and international funding opportunities. Earlier on October 2, Naidu launched India’s first-ever Skill Census pilot project in the Mangalagiri constituency. The census aims to assess skill levels through a door-to-door survey in the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency and Thullur Mandal. A total of 1,61,421 families, including 1,35,914 households in Mangalagiri and 25,507 in Thullur, are being surveyed by 675 enumerators. The Skill Census, overseen by village secretariats, the Skill Development Department, CDAP, and the NYK department, aims to identify youth skills and enhance employment opportunities. The government has pledged to create 2 million jobs in the public and private sectors over five years, linking industries with polytechnic and ITI colleges, and holding monthly job fairs in each district. This initiative will gather data on unemployment, skills, age, and preferred job locations, helping to create a comprehensive plan to improve employment prospects in Andhra Pradesh.
