Chennai Metro Extends Service Hours for IPL 2024 Clash between CSK and RCB

Chennai's metro system, operated by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), will be running longer today due to the highly anticipated IPL 2024 cricket match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Chepauk Stadium. The match is scheduled to start around 7:30 pm.

To accommodate the influx of fans heading to the stadium, CMRL announced an extension of metro services. Trains will run until 1 am on March 23, starting from 11:00 pm on March 22, to ensure smooth travel and avoid overcrowding.

With the IPL 2024 season kicking off today, excitement is palpable. The league will feature the same 10 teams as last season, with defending champions Chennai Super Kings aiming to maintain their title.

CMRL issued a statement, highlighting the usual congestion around the stadium and advising commuters to purchase metro tickets in advance to avoid delays. Tickets can be bought online through various platforms like CMRL mobile app, Paytm, Phonepe, WhatsApp, ONDC, or at ticket counters in any metro station.

In anticipation of increased ridership post-match, CMRL will offer special single journey tickets priced at Rs.50, which can be used to exit at any metro station. These tickets will be available at Govt Estate Metro and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr M G Ramachandran Central Metro ticket counters.

For cricket enthusiasts across India, Star Sports Network TV channels will broadcast the IPL 2024 matches. Additionally, the matches can be live-streamed on the JioCinema app and website, offering commentary in 12 languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Haryanvi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, and Bengali.
