New Delhi: The Chhattisgarh High Court has dealt a major blow to the Congress in the toolkit case. The court has ordered a stay of investigation against former state CM and BJP national vice president Raman Singh and party national spokesperson Sambit Patra. The duo had filed a petition in the high court seeking quashing of the FIR lodged against them. The Raipur Civil Line police had registered an FIR on May 19 on the complaint of Chhattisgarh State President Akash Sharma of Congress student Unit NSUI. An inquiry notice was also sent to Raman Singh and Sambit Patra. Sharma had alleged that Sambit Patra was sharing fake documents through a Congress letterhead and levelled false allegations against the party on the pretext of toolkit. Raman Singh was accused of creating tension among communities. Hearing the high court Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas said the FIR against the duo was registered due to malice and political malice. "After observing the facts and FIR, prima facie no case is framed against the petitioner. Clearly, action has been taken against the petitioner due to malice or political malice. On this basis, the court stayed the continuation of the investigation on the basis of the FIR lodged. The court held that continuing the investigation would be a misuse of the law.
