New Delhi: The Government of India may soon start vaccination of children above the age of 12 years suffering from diseases. However, fully healthy children are not expected to get the benefit at the moment. According to the Committee on Covid-19 Immunization, there are currently 40 crore children in the country. If immunization is started, the vaccination of 18+ already in progress will be affected. According to the committee, first adults need to be vaccinated, otherwise, the country may be in the same situation in the near future when people had to wander for beds in hospitals. On immunization of children, the Committee has opined that children above the age of 12 years who have serious diseases should be vaccinated. The committee believes that every child does not need vaccination before sending him to school. Committee chief NK Arora said fully healthy children will have to wait for vaccination. Arora said that the current vaccination drive will further lag behind with the introduction of vaccination of all children at present and the number of infected people in the hospital will increase if the elderly do not get vaccine dose along with the youth.
