China has strongly criticized the G7 Leaders' Communique, claiming the group uses China-related issues to unfairly target and attack the country. In a media statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the G7's comments as unfounded and biased. He argued that these actions are part of a continuous effort by the US and Western nations to maintain their dominance in global affairs. "The G7 Leaders' Communique once again uses false accusations against China to vilify and attack us," Lin Jian stated. "These claims lack factual, legal, or moral basis and are filled with arrogance and prejudice." China also questioned the relevance and composition of the G7 in today's world. "The G7 does not represent the global community. These seven countries account for only 10% of the world's population and collectively contribute less to global economic growth than China," Lin Jian highlighted, suggesting the group's declining influence. According to Lin Jian, the G7 has deviated from its original goal of promoting global economic stability and has become a tool for sustaining US and Western supremacy. "The G7 now prioritizes its own rules over the principles of the UN Charter and international law, losing its credibility and global representation," he said. Lin Jian also criticized the G7's approach to global peace and security, accusing the group of increasing tensions through military actions and regional interventions. "While claiming to safeguard world peace, the G7 divides the world along ideological lines, creating exclusive groups and inciting confrontations," he argued, suggesting such actions disrupt international order. China further rejected the G7's allegations of "Chinese overcapacity" as baseless and protectionist. "The G7's claim about Chinese overcapacity is not supported by facts or economic principles. It is merely an excuse for protectionism," Lin Jian asserted, noting the negative impact on global economic cooperation and climate efforts. Meanwhile, G7 leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific governed by international law. "We are dedicated to a free and open Indo-Pacific, based on the rule of law, sovereignty, territorial integrity, peaceful dispute resolution, fundamental freedoms, and human rights," stated the White House on Friday. The G7 statement emphasized that the group does not intend to harm China or impede its economic development. Instead, they aim to protect businesses from unfair practices and promote fair competition. "We seek stable and constructive relations with China, recognizing the need for direct engagement to manage differences. Cooperation with China is essential to address global challenges," the statement read. The G7 also urged China to enhance efforts in promoting international peace, security, and tackling global issues such as climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and health security. "We call on China to join us in addressing these critical challenges and support global stability and development," the statement concluded.
