New Delhi: India has sent consignments of coronavirus vaccines under grant assistance to Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Seychelles, Myanmar and Mauritius. India is not only protecting its own citizen but also helping other countries. After India has supplied coronavirus vaccine to Sri Lanka, China has decided to donate three lakh corona vaccine doses to the island nation in a bid to step up its vaccine diplomacy in South Asia. According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, China will donate three lakh corona vaccine doses to Sri Lanka to jointly fight the corona pandemic. reported on Wednesday, citing a statement from the Chinese embassy in Colombo. China assured Sri Lanka a donation of three lakh doses of the vaccine manufactured by Sinopharm. The Chinese vaccines, however, will reach Colombo only by mid-February. Under the 'Neighbourhood First' policy, India has gifted over 55 lakh doses of Covid vaccines to its neighbouring countries. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa thanked India for gifting five lakh doses of Covishield vaccine gifted by New Delhi.
