New Delhi: An anti-encroachment drive is underway at Shaheen Bagh in the national capital today. The Delhi Police has announced to give a police force for the drive to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SMCD). Along with this, paramilitary has also been deployed in the area. The locals have come and sat in front of the bulldozers who have come to remove the encroachments on the cooperation of some opposition leaders. According to media reports, these leaders are describing themselves as members of Congress and AAP. These leaders say that bulldozers are being run on the poor, which will not be allowed to happen. While the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SMCD) clearly states that the bulldozing action has to be taken only on illegal constructions and encroachments. According to media reports, the anti-encroachment drive began at 11.30 am. A heavy police force is seen in the area. Bulldozers have also reached Shaheen Bagh. This time the SMCD has not left the option of taking a stay from the court like in the Jahangirpuri case for any lawyer. The local mayor has also visited the areas where bulldozers are to ply. SDMC Central Zone President Rajpal said, "Our officers and staff are ready. Teams have been formed. Wherever there is encroachment, it will be removed. The campaign will be carried out in Tughlakabad, Sangam Vihar, New Friends Colony and Shaheen Bagh. ' At the same time, the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this bulldozing campaign. The petition filed by the CPM in the Supreme Court said, "The authority is planning to demolish the slums. On the 4th of May, bulldozers were run on the houses of the poor in Sangam Vihar. The same work is scheduled to be done at Shaheen Bagh on Monday. The South Delhi Municipal Corporation along with the police force is going to do the same at Okhla Shaheen Bagh.
