Bangalore: Former Karnataka minister and Congress leader Holalkere Anjaneya has compared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Lord Ram, asking why one should go to Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and worship "BJP's Ram." Anjaneya made these remarks while speaking to reporters in Chitradurga. He was questioned about Siddaramaiah not being invited to the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22. "Siddaramaiah himself is Ram. Then why go and worship that Ram in (Ayodhya) temple? That is BJP's Ram. BJP does this for publicity. Let them do," Anjaneya stated in Kannada. "Our Ram is inside our heart. My name is Anjaneya; you know what he did?" said the Congress leader. Anjaneya is another name for Lord Hanuman, the Hindu deity who is the devoted companion of Lord Ram in the epic Ramayan. Accordong to the media reports, On December 30, Siddaramaiah mentioned that he did not receive an invitation for the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. "Till today, I have not received an invitation. If an invitation comes, I will look into it," Siddaramaiah was quoted as saying in media reports. Meanwhile, Congress leader and former party chief Sonia Gandhi will be attending the Ram Mandir inauguration event on January 22.
