Congress slams anti-cow slaughter bill in Karnataka, says, 'People dependent on beef will be unemployed'

Bengaluru: The Congress party in Karnataka has decided to oppose the Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill. Former CM and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah said that with the introduction of this bill many people will become unemployed. Karnataka's animal husbandry minister Prabhu Chauhan had said that we are preparing to implement the anti-cow slaughter bill in Karnataka as well. After this, the Yeddyurappa government of the state will ban cow slaughter, sale and consumption of beef.

Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah said, 'Congress will oppose the anti-cow slaughter bill in the state because after the introduction of this bill, all people who are dependent on beef will become unemployed.' He also said, 'The government is in the readiness to introduce the bill prepared by RSS in the assembly.' Significantly, before this, the anti-cow slaughter bill has been passed in many states. In Uttar Pradesh, there is a provision of jail for 3 to 10 years and fine ranging from 3 to 5 lakh rupees for cow slaughter. If someone is found guilty once again after the conviction, then that person will be charged with a double penalty.

According to the reports, apart from Uttar Pradesh, cow slaughter is banned in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Chandigarh. There are also 10 states where cow slaughter is not banned. This includes Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
