NEW DELHI: As per data from the Union Health Ministry on May 11, India recorded 1,690 new COVID infections in a day, but the number of active cases decreased to 19,613 from 21,406 a day earlier. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the nation is currently 4.49 crore (4,49,76,599). The figures revised at 8 a.m. revealed that the death toll increased to 5,31,736 with 12 fatalities, including those reconciled by Kerala. 19,613 active cases, or 0.04% of the total illnesses, are currently present in India. The Ministry reported that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.77% and that 4,44,25,250 persons had recovered from the illness, while the case fatality rate was 1.18%. The website for the Health Ministry reports that as of this writing, the nationwide vaccination campaign has provided 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine. States and union territories must use a risk assessment-based strategy to stop and contain the virus, the health ministry directed. The ministry has urged state governments to assess the covid-19 situation at the local level (districts and sub-districts) and to keep their attention on putting the essential measures in place for timely and effective covid-19 management while also ensuring effective compliance.
