Covid third wave has arrived: Karnataka Health Minister

BENGALURU:  The third wave of the coronavirus has arrived in Karnataka, said K Sudhakar, the state's health minister. He also mentioned that the Covid positive rate has climbed from 0.4 percent to 1.6 percent. For six months, there were no more than 0.1 percent cases. It has risen to 1.6 percent in a single day. What are your thoughts? Isn't this the third wave? he wondered.

Sudhakar also told reporters that the state Congress party is mobilising tens of thousands of people from throughout the state for a protest march  in Bengaluru.

"It's great that they're doing it for the Mekedatu project, which will provide the city with drinking water. When they were in control for six years, the initiative was neatly forgotten." "If the padayatra spreads infection, they will have to bear responsibility," he cautioned. He noted that a decision on mass gatherings, including political rallies, will be made during a Tuesday evening meeting.

In response to a question on whether the government is considering implementing a lockdown, he said, "I respectfully suggest that you refrain from using harsh terms such as lockdown. Right now, life is returning to normalcy. If a lockdown is implemented, it will have a considerably greater impact on the people. Controlling the threat is one thing, but the impact on people will be enormous. Keeping all of this in mind, we'll figure out what has to be done without causing undue difficulty to the average person. It is unquestionably a test for the government "He went on to clarify.
