PILIBHIT: Two people, one of whom is a minor, have been detained in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy, whose body was found on the bank of the Khannaut River inside Deoria Kotwali's purview. On September 11, the victim had gone missing. Police said, the victim was requesting a loan of Rs 20,000 from one of the defendants. The victim, recognised as Himanshu, was staying in a rented hosue in Bisalpur city as his college was nearby. When the victim's father reported his daughter missing, the incident came to light. Hari Prasad claims that his son left his bicycle outside of his rented room in the Patel Nagar neighbourhood on September 11 before going missing. Himanshu's phone was also switched off. One of the two people arrested, a 17-year-old, was Himanshu's classmate, SHO Praveen Kumar said. Three months ago, he had lent Himanshu 20,000 rupees. "The minor and his friend Vijay, 19, plotted to kill Himanshu after he began demanding his money back, the SHO claimed, adding that "On September 11, both the accused arrived in Bisalpur on a bike and took Himanshu with them under the guise of attending a party. They strangled Himanshu and fled after arriving at the bridge across the Khannaut River in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve." The two defendants have admitted to committing the crime. Vijay will appear before the remand magistrate on Thursday, while the youngster will be presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. The body was cremated after the autopsy on Wednesday.
