IPL 2020: CSK defeated again, Coach Fleming says, 'Kedar Jadhav played slow'

Abu Dhabi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coach Stephen Fleming said that while chasing the target against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kedar Jadhav was sent to bat before Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo because he is good at spin play but Jadhav scored only 7 runs while playing 12 balls.

Fleming said in a post-match press conference, 'We thought Kedar would play spin well and score runs, while Jadeja would work as a finisher, but it didn't happen and now we have to introspect'. Fleming said that his batsmen lost their hold on the match as only 14 runs were scored between the 11th and 14th overs. He said, 'If Shane Watson or Ambati Rayudu were not out then it would have been different. We were not able to score fast and the grip on the match weakened.'

The lack of Suresh Raina left the team once again, but Fleming said that he has a balanced team. He said, 'We have a lot of batsmen and the team is balanced. I don't think the extra batsman will help. On the question of not bowling to spinner Ravindra Jadeja on a slow wicket, he said, 'This question is for MS Dhoni. I do not make this decision. I think this decision must have been taken by looking at the wind and our medium pacers were doing well.'
