Cyber Cell arrested three more for selling DCS worth Rs 2 crore

The State Cyber Cell has arrested three more accused from Pune who were involved in selling Duty Credit Scrip worth Rs 2 crores using the digital signatures of two companies of Pithampur. One of the culprits was an import-export consultant of a company who  used to prepare the digital signature of the company with the help of another accused.

SP (cyber) Jitendra Singh said that they received complaints from Erawat Pharma and VE Commercial Vehicles Limited on September 16, 2020 and October 10. The complaints from the companies stated that someone had used the digital signatures of their companies and sold DCS worth Rs 2 crores. Initially, the cyber officials arrested six men including three from Pune who had forged documents and sold the DCS to other companies. Following the lead given by the accused, a team led by inspector Rashid Ahmed, SI Sanjay Choudhary, head constable Prabhakar Mahajan and constable Gajendra Rathore was sent to Pune to arrest other accused involved in the crime.

 The team collected information in Pune and managed to arrest the accused Shantanu Jatar, a resident of Sangambadi in Pune, Sachin Lonkar Kodwakhurd, Pune and Sudarshan Malpani of Abhinav College Road in Pune. They were brought to the city. During the investigation, the accused informed that accused Shantanu has been working as an import-export consultant since 2012. He also worked as a legal advisor of Erawat Pharma Company. He had allegedly prepared a fake invoice of Merchandise Export India Scheme (MEIS) and sold the DCS of the company for Rs 55 lakh.
