Dara Singh was India's best actor as well as a famous wrestler

Today is the birthday of renowned entertainment actor Dara Singh, who was born on November 19, 1928, in Dharamukak village of Amritsar (Punjab). His real name was Didar Singh Randhawa. He was a popular wrestler and maker-director besides a talented artist. Dara Singh had acted in many of the best films and television serials in Hindi films. He was really recognized by the role of Lord Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana.'

The same Dara Singh was a popular wrestler in India. He started wrestling from Singapore in 1949. Dara Singh, 6 feet two inches tall, wrestled against and defeated several world-class winners. That was the reason why he was awarded the 'Rustom-e-Punjab' and 'Rustom-e-Hind.' Along with wrestling, Dara Singh decided to turn to films as well.

Dara Singh made his Bollywood debut with the film 'Sangdil.' The movie came out in the year 1952. The movie starred actor Dilip Kumar and actress Madhubala in the lead roles. After this movie, Dara Singh acted in many of the best Bollywood films including Faulad, Mera Naam Joker, Dharmatma, Ram Biswas, Mard and made an indelible mark in Hindi films. Dara Singh had worked in more than 500 movies throughout his career. After the 1968 World Championships, Dara Singh always won wrestling. In 1970, he produced the Punjabi film 'Nanak Dukhiya Sab Sansar' for the first time.
