New Delhi: Delhi court has rejected the surrender application of Congress veteran and former finance minister P Chidambaram. Chidambaram had submitted an application to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to surrender in the INX Media case. Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case. INX Media case: When ED told the court, 'do not want to take Chidambaram on remand…' It is noteworthy that on Thursday, the court reserved the decision on the petition of P. Chidambaram till Friday. The ED was hearing Chidambaram's plea for surrender in the money laundering case. The ED, however, objected to Chidambaram's plea. The ED had said that Chidambaram was not required to be arrested in the money laundering case yet. INX Media Case: P. Chidambaram files a petition for regular bail in court The ED told Special Justice Ajay Kumar Kuhar that Chidambaram is in judicial custody in the case registered by the CBI for corruption and is not in a position to tamper with the evidence. The ED had said that he would take him into custody in the INX Media money laundering case at an appropriate time. At the same time, Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal had told the court that Chidambaram can surrender whenever he wants, it is his right. INX Media case: Delhi HC to hear P.
