NEW DELHI: A police official said on Monday that three people, including a minor, were arrested in the national capital for stabbing an auto-rickshaw driver and robbing him of cash. Mukesh alias Lukkar (25), Rajan (19), and a 16-year-old youth were named as the suspects. The incident occurred on the nights of April 2-3, according to the official. "A PCR call reporting the stabbing event was received in the Burari police station around 1.15 a.m. on the day, after which the police staff hurried to the scene," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), S.S. Kalsi. When the police arrived, they found a badly injured auto-rickshaw driver who was unconscious and had suffered a deep stomach injury. The injured motorist was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was referred to a different facility. According to the driver's account, his vehicle was booked late in the evening from Anand Vihar to Mukundpur by three people. Burari was stabbed in the stomach and robbed when the three passengers tried to rob him at gunpoint when they arrived at a remote location near Nala Ishu Vihar. The police have filed a complaint under Indian Penal Code sections 397 (robbery or dacoity with intent to cause murder or serious bodily harm) and 34 (acts committed by multiple persons in furtherance of a common goal).
