The Delhi Transport Department will provide motorcycles to its enforcement department in order to help them get through areas with heavy traffic quickly and respond a little faster. It will help them go after violators trying to escape and evade fines, according to the officials’ statement on Saturday. The teams are deployed on the field in order to prevent violations of various Motor Vehicle Act-related provisions. Related to this, a senior Transport Department official said, "The department will deploy 30 motorcycles and 10 Innova cars to strengthen enforcement work by its teams. The bikes will add speed and enable teams to catch violators if they try to escape," Adding to that Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said that the new vehicles will help the enforcement teams to discharge their duties more effectively. He further added that, apart from buying these motorcycles and vehicles, we will also try to add more manpower to the enforcement wing in order to achieve the same goal. Delhi Transport Department has long been trying to enforce bus lane discipline in the city with motorists being asked not to drive their vehicles in the lanes designated for buses. The said team also looks after to make sure that the bus drivers do not violate lanes either, they also issue challans and tow cars, autos, and other vehicles away if they see them parked at the designated bus lanes. In order to enhance efficiency and make sure the rules are properly being followed the Delhi Transport Department will soon increase the number of teams and add more enforcement teams to the city. An enforcement team comprises four officers and the number of teams will be increased by taking out one member from each team making a team comprising of three members each.
