PWD Issues Offer Letter for CM House to Atishi, Sets 8-Day Deadline for Acceptance

New Delhi: In a significant development amidst the political row over the Chief Minister's Bungalow, Delhi government's Public Works Department (PWD) has extended an offer for the 6 Flag Staff Road Bungalow (CM House) to Chief Minister Atishi. In the offer letter dated October 11, the PWD requested Atishi to submit the necessary documents within eight days.

The letter states, "The Director of Allotment, PWD, GNCTD is pleased to offer the under-mentioned PWD General Pool Bungalow to Atishi, Chief Minister, GNCTD, as per the provisions of Delhi Administration Allotment of Govt. Residences (General Pool) Rules, 1977." The allottee is required to submit the acceptance form, along with three passport-sized family photographs, to the PWD office within the specified timeframe. Following the submission of acceptance, the allottee will receive an Authority Slip from the PWD Secretariat to take possession of the bungalow.

The PWD also indicated that failure to take possession within the specified time would result in the cancellation of the allotment. The offer is subject to several conditions, including the requirement for the allottee to vacate any existing government building if in occupation. Unauthorized construction in the bungalow could lead to cancellation of the allotment and payment of damages. The allottee will also be held responsible for any damages beyond normal wear and tear.

The PWD advised that the bungalow is under investigation by the CBI and other agencies for various violations, urging the allottee to extend full cooperation as required. The political atmosphere has been tense, as the AAP has accused the BJP-led Centre of evicting Atishi from the CM House and forcibly removing her belongings. However, the LG Office has dismissed these allegations, asserting that Atishi had removed her belongings herself before the bungalow was allotted. This situation follows the resignation of the AAP national convenor from his position as Chief Minister, prompting the change in bungalow occupancy.
