Delhi Government set target to host 39th Olympic Games in 2048 : Delhi Finance Minister

On Tuesday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia has made an important revelation on budget announcement. He said  the Kejriwal government has set a target to host the 39th Olympic Games in 2048. Manish Sisodia claimed the Aam Aadmi Party government is planning to bid for the Olympic Games in Delhi on the 100th anniversary of India's independence. When asked if there was any discussion with the central government over working on the application process for the Olympic Games, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who addressed a press conference after the budget session said the state government will begin discussions with the Centre soon.

In CM Kejriwal words said as  "This plan is not for the individual, it is a matter of the country and everyone will work together. It will be a matter of great pride for the country. It is obvious that the Central government and the Delhi government will work together on this matter" he further added "It is this vision that Delhi will bid for the 2048 Olympic games. To have them take place in Delhi, the necessary infrastructure and other facilities are required, we will create them,".

However, it is to be noted that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced in his budget speech the plan for hosting the Olympic Games in Delhi. The question is whether the sports infrastructure in Delhi is strong enough to organize a sporting spectacle like the Olympics. It is also important to understand what kinds of changes are needed at the ground level in Delhi besides improving the sports infrastructure and facilities for the players.
