New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the Central Government to give clarification regarding the last date for making objections and suggestions regarding the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) notification for the year 2020. The court has sought this clarification from the Central Government while hearing the petition in which the people have been asked to extend their time to get public opinion.

It is noteworthy that the development projects which are going to be implemented, what will be the harmful effect on the environment, what are the measures to reduce this loss. The EIA has been formed to give suggestions in relation to all this. The Ministry of Environment approves development projects only after meeting the conditions of the EIA. Issuing notice to the Central Government on behalf of the High Court, it has been asked to file its reply in this matter by June 29.

Activist Vikrant Tongad, who works for the environment, has filed a petition in the High Court, saying that the period of inviting objections in the notification from the Central Government has been extended for 60 days. But it has not been clearly stated by the government when the 60-day period will start.
