Kejriwal government will give subsidy on buying electric vehicle

New Delhi: On the instructions of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Government of Delhi has started the exercise of finalizing the 'Electric Vehicle Policy 2019'. Subsidies will be sent directly to their bank account for electric vehicle buyers. The vehicle dealer will not be given subsidy. Sources have said that Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot held a meeting with the officials regarding the electric vehicle policy and gave instructions regarding its effective implementation.

With this, the process of formation of its EV Fund, State EV Board and EV Cell has started. Sources reveal that the entire process will be completed within 1 month. It is noteworthy that in the next 5 years, the Delhi government has targeted to register 5 lakh electric vehicles in Delhi under this policy. Electric vehicles will be encouraged under this policy. For which she will give incentives to the people on the purchase of electric vehicle. An incentive of Rs. 30 thousand will be provided in two wheelers, Rs. 1.5 lakh on cars, Rs. 30 thousand on auto, e-rickshaws and freighters.

CM Kejriwal has said that all these incentives will be given separately from the incentives given by the central government. That is, the consumer will get the incentive given by both the governments. At the same time, the Kejriwal government has announced to give scraping incentives. This is the first time any government is giving this incentive. The scrapping incentive will be given on buying new electric vehicles in lieu of old petrol-diesel vehicles. Along with this, CM Kejriwal has also said that 200 charging stations will be built in the next one year.
