Delhi Municipal Corp Amendment Bill to table in Rajya Sabha today

NEW DELHI: The Centre is expected to introduce the 'The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022' in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, which will combine the national capital's three municipal corporations.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah would push for the Bill to be taken into consideration and passed to alter the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, as passed by the Lok Sabha. The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, was passed by the Lok Sabha last week, unifying three municipal corporations in the national capital.

The Centre is also expected to table the Chartered Accountants, Cost and Works Accountants, and Company Secretaries (Amendment) Bill, 2022 for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha, according to the Rajya Sabha's List of Business. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, would move the Bill forward for amendment, consideration, and passage.

Arjun Munda, the Minister of Tribal Affairs, will move that the Bill further amending the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, to include certain communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to Tripura, which was passed by the Lok Sabha, be considered and passed by the Upper House.

The Rajya Sabha's discussion on the ministry of labour and employment's operations is also expected to come to a close with a response from the minister. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Health, will move a motion to elect one woman member of the Central Supervisory Board, created under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994, in the manner recommended by the Chairman.
