Delhi Police busts interstate illegal arms syndicate, 2 arrested

NEW DELHI: Officials announced on Thursday that the Delhi Police's special cell had cracked an interstate illegal guns conspiracy with the arrest of two important Devender Bambiha gang members from Punjab.

Gagandeep Singh (25) and Baljeet Singh (22), who were in possession of five. 32 calibre semi-automatic pistols with four rounds each that were intended for distribution to the Bambiha gang members in Punjab, said the police.

Gagandeep bought illicit weapons from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh on the orders of UAE-based Bambiha gang handlers and Canadian thug Arshdeep.

The Lawerence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang and the Bambiha gang have a bitter rivalry that has resulted in the deaths of many of its members in gang wars in Punjab and other states.

Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), reported receiving specific information that Gagandeep, a member of the Bambiha gang, had purchased a shipment of pistols from Khargone and was on the way to Punjab via Delhi where he planned to meet one of his contacts between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m. near the bus stop in Palam on the Dwarka-Palam road.

"In response to the inputs, a trap was set close to the bus stop. Gagandeep was detained not far from the bus stop ""DCP," he said.
