Dengue: Centre rushes high-level teams to 9 states, UTs to curb infection

New Delhi: The central government has sent high-level teams to nine states and union territories with a high burden of dengue illness to assist them in public health measures for infection control and management. This is in conformity with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya's directives given during a review meeting on the dengue situation held in Delhi on November 1st.

Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir are among the states/UTs where the Centre has dispatched teams, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. According to the government, a larger number of cases were reported in various states in October this year compared to the same month last year. States and UTs around the nation have reported a total of 1,16,991 dengue cases, according to the data.

According to the ministry, high-level teams are being requested to help and support states in mounting an efficient public health response. They must also report on the state of vector control, the availability of kits and medications, early detection, pesticide availability and usage, and the status of anti-larval and anti-adult vector control efforts, among other things. Mandaviya had earlier attended a review meeting in Delhi on Monday to discuss the treatment of dengue patients, during which he urged health authorities to assist the states.
