Despite Elections, IPL 2019 is to be played in India, Begin on March 23

IPl is one of the most popular tournaments of cricket world. The Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are awaiting for the 12th edition of the IPL and now there is important news for them. After a lot of deliberation on conducting the IPL 2019 outside country due to the General Elections, the IPL Governing Council and Supreme Court appointed CoA has finally decided to conduct the tournament in India.

BCCI in a release said that  Based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies/authorities, it was decided that the 12th edition of the world's most popular and competitive T20 tournament will be scheduled to be played in India. The tournament will start from Match 23.

Earlier, there were rumours that the tournament is likely to be shifted to South Africa, however, BCCI refuted the rumours and said that tournament will be held in India despite elections.

The decision about the venue of IPL is taken in a ametting in New Delhi on Tuesday. However, there might be a change in the usual home and away formats and the tournament might be conducted in a Caravan format due to elections. The final dates and venues if the games are likely to be confirmed after the announcement of election date.
