Dhanraj Pillay: He is the 'Wizards Of Hockey', Know Some Interesting Things

Born on July 16, 1968, Dhanraj Pillay is an excellent hockey player and former captain of the Indian hockey team. He is currently the manager of the Indian Hockey team. He is also a member of the Informal (Adhoc) Committee of the Indian Hockey Federation, formed after the suspension of Kanwar Pal Singh Gill. Dhanraj Pillai's international career lasted from December 1989 to August 2004 and, in the meantime, he played 339 international matches.

The Indian Hockey Association does not maintain any official data of goals scored by any player. Therefore, there is no reliable data on the number of international goals made by Dhanraj Puppies. According to him, the number of goals scored by Dhanraj is more than 170, but according to a leading hockey statistician, it is around 120.

He is the only player to win four Olympic tournaments (1992, Represented the Indian team in 1996, 2000 and 2004), four World Cups (1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002), four Champions Trophy (1995, 1996, 2002 and 2003) and four Asian Games (1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002). India had won the Asian Games (1998) and the Asia Cup (2003) under their captaincy. He scored the most goals at the Bangkok Asian Games and was the only Indian to make a place in the World XI during the 1994 World Cup in Sydney.
