DiCaprio, Scorsese to team up yet again for 1740s shipwreck thriller

Los Angeles: Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have already begun work on their next project after finishing the film version of David Grann's best-selling nonfiction book, "Killers of the Flower Moon," for Apple Original Films.

The upcoming movie is based on 'The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder,' a suspenseful tale of a shipwreck and murder.

According to "Hollywood Reporter," Wager's story, which is set in the 1740s, begins when a shoddy boat carrying 30 malnourished men lands on the Brazilian coast. The men were the remaining crew of the British naval ship HMS Wager, which had crashed upon a barren island in South America's Patagonia region while pursuing a Spanish ship. They became heroes because of their stories about surviving the sea and the weather.

However, six months later, a second boat with three men and considerably worse for wear washed ashore off the coast of Chile. The other men were suspected of being mutineers by these new sailors.

The British Admiralty launched a special trial to learn the truth about what actually occurred on the island as accusations and denials flew, according to the "Hollywood Reporter." The trial revealed a tale of a captain and crew struggling to survive while fending off some of the world's most extreme elements as well as struggling against their own human natures.
