Motor vehicle regulations changed, government did this

In Rule-93 relating to dimensions of motor vehicles between lockdown and corona crisis, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has decided to overhaul under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989. According to the government, the reshuffling of the new dimensions will be done according to international standards. Also, the new dimensions will enable vehicles to carry additional passengers or carry more luggage. The government is taking this step to improve the logistics sector in the country.

According to the government, 3-wheelers falling in the L2 category, whose speed does not exceed 50 kmph, can no longer be longer than 4 meters and 2.5 liters high. At the same time, the L5 category which has been kept for auto rickshaws, their height has been increased from 2.2 meters to 2.5 meters. Apart from this, the passenger vehicles falling in the M category which consists of 4 wheels, their height has now been increased from 3.8 meters to 4 meters. At present, the airport passenger buses will be limited to just 3.8 meters. Apart from this, the length of buses which have two axles has been increased from 12 meters to 13.5 meters.

For your information, let us tell you that the N-class vehicles which carry goods to encourage the transport of containers, the government has also changed it. In this, the height of vehicles with gross weight of more than 3.5 tons has been increased from 3.8 meters to 4 meters. Light goods vehicles such as pick-up trucks cannot have a height of more than 3 meters. The government has also increased the length of T-class trailers and containers from 18 meters to 18.75 meters. At the same time, the height of these has been increased from 3.8 meters to 4 meters. But the motor vehicle trailer can be 4.75 meters high.
