Later this project will be made available for mobile users across the country. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has been working on this pilot project since 2017. In this project, the Global IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is being fed, with the help of which the cloned IMEI can be traced. The Central Government announced this pilot project in 2017, under which users will be able to report their lost mobile on the CEIR platform. Based on the database recorded on this portal, the mobile phone can be traced in case of theft or lost. The Ministry of Telecommunication started feeding the global IMEI number of 15 digits in this database from 2017. On this platform, users will be able to block their lost or stolen mobile number, due to which the users do not get any financial loss. Nowadays, users keep many types of personal information in their smartphones, from bank details. In this case, the portals were stolen after the launch Smartphone is very difficult to access. How does CEIR work Information on all the handsets of the Department of Telecommunications is available on this new portal. In this, the handset has been white, gray and blacklisted. In this list, you can use mobile IMEI mobile. Also, the devices with gray list are not as per standard but they can be used. Devices with gray list will be monitored. At the same time, users with blacklist IMEI will not be able to use the device with blacklist IMEI will not have access to connect the mobile network. After the mobile phone is lost or stolen, the user will have to register an FIR. For this, DoT has issued a helpline number 14422. After the police complaint, the department will blacklist the device. CEIR will have information about IMEI of every device around the world, due to which the cloning of the device will be stopped.
