New Delhi: The Uttarakhand government has challenged the high court's decision on Chardham yatra in the Supreme court. The government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The government had decided to start Chardham Yatra from Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts from July 1. But it was stayed by the High Court. Due to this, the government had to change the SOP and issue a new guideline. The High Court, while hearing the Yatra, had slammed the officials asking whether what happened during Haridwar Kumbh, the Yatra should be allowed. The High Court said that when the Kanwar Yatra has been banned, why is the government trying to start Chardham yatra with inadequate arrangements? The high court had said that it is fully taken care of the sentiments of the devotees and the government should telecast the worship of the Chardham live on TV. The government objected to it saying that it was not scriptural. On this, the court said that when the Scriptures were written, there was no TV, so how could this system be given? The court said that just as there is a live telecast of Jagannath Yatra in Odissa, arrangements should be made here also.
