500 crore deal and case of liquor shops in Delhi set..., Dr Vishvas's taunt on Kejriwal govt

New Delhi: The new excise policy has come into force in the country's capital, Delhi. Under the new policy, the age of drinkers in the capital has been reduced from 25 to 21. Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government has come under fire from the opposition as well as many of its old allies for its policy. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a traffic jam across Delhi today (January 3, 2022) in protest against the new excise policy, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas also hit out at the Delhi government.

Kumar Vishvas wrote in his tweet that, 'Delhi liquor mafia, along with liquor hoarder MLA, came to me in 2016 with a recommendation to implement the policy of raising the age of drinkers from 21 to 18 and opening 1000 new contracts. I scolded and drove away and warned both the leaders. Now the brother-in-law of the younger man has set the case in a deal worth 500 crores.' On this tweet of Dr Vishvas, AAP MLA Naresh Balyan got furious and he reacted and wrote, 'It seems that you have consumed the wrong substance this morning, till 2021 the drinking age in Delhi was 25 years after the new policy accomplished to 21 years old, the second fact is that not a single liquor contract has increased, 4 have decreased, rest we know that the pain of Rajya Sabha will remain for life, keep spreading lies like this.'

Where Dr Vishwas was also not going to remain silent on this, he also tweeted in his own unique way and revealed in gestures that the 'drunk hoarder MLA' he was referring to is Balyan. Dr Vishwas wrote in his tweet that, 'If the thief had kept silent, he would have been beaten less, what was the need to tell the name of the father. I had just written "Drunk hoarder MLA," what was the need to show that you had come, boy?' At the same time, Delhi BJP unit president Adesh Gupta also took a dig at the Kejriwal government by tweeting and reminding Kejriwal of his old views regarding alcohol.

In his tweet, Adesh Gupta wrote, "The Deputy Chief Minister does not know what the Chief Minister of Delhi says! Arvind Kejriwal had written in his book Swaraj that the pockets of leaders and officers are filled when a liquor contract is opened. If thousands of contracts have been opened in Delhi, how much bribe has the AAP government got paid?'' 849 new liquor shops have been allotted licences under the Kejriwal government's new excise policy, under which at least 3 new shops will be opened in every ward of the capital. The BJP's opposition is that these shops should not be around any school or shrine, and there should be no violation of any rule in opening shops.
