BANGALORE: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is showing off its latest technologies at Aero India 2025. The event is being held from February 10-14 at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
Aero India brings together people involved in India's defence research and development. DRDO is displaying a variety of new systems, including working models, prototypes, and interactive exhibits. These displays can be found in different areas like indoor pavilions, outdoor exhibits, and flying demonstrations.
One of the main highlights is the full-scale model of India’s first 5.5 Generation stealth aircraft, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). This display is located at the India Pavilion and highlights India's commitment to the MAKE-IN-INDIA initiative. Along with the AMCA, visitors can also see other DRDO products, such as the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF), LCA Mk-2 Model, and advanced missiles.
The DRDO indoor pavilion in Hall-D has nine themes covering important defence areas. These include "Airborne Surveillance Solutions," "Next-Generation Missile Systems," and "Unmanned Aerial Systems." Over 330 products are showcased in 14 technology zones, focusing on defence sectors like missile systems, radar, and materials.
Outside, the DRDO pavilion shows real-world applications of defence tech. Full-scale models of the QRSAM Mobile Launcher Vehicle, Akash NG Launcher, and Archer UAV (Rustom-1) are on display. The upgraded Dornier aircraft, now with better radar systems and fuel efficiency, is also one of the key attractions.
On February 13, DRDO will host a seminar titled "DRDO Industry Synergy towards Viksit Bharat: Make in India – Make for World" in Hall No. 2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will open the event. It will discuss industry partnerships, self-reliance in defence, and promoting defence exports.
On February 14, an event called "SAMARTHYA" will be held by the Department of Defence Production (DDP) to honour those who contributed to Indian defence technologies. Five DRDO products will be showcased, and team leaders will be recognised by the Defence Minister.
Defence Ministers' Conclave: Strengthening Global Defence Ties
The Defence Ministers' Conclave is taking place in Bangalore today, February 11, in a hybrid mode. It aims to strengthen defence cooperation with friendly nations as global security challenges continue to evolve. The conclave will serve as a major platform to discuss different topics such as defence investment, joint ventures, co-production, research & development, maritime security, and strategic partnerships etc.
Earlier this month, the Defence Research and Development Organisation also hosted a seminar on futuristic aerospace technologies, focusing on the challenges in design validation.
