Naypyitaw: A 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on Saturday. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 5:31 am (local time). There have been no reports of victims and damage. Further details are awaited. Earlier, on Feb 05, Myanmar was shaken near Taunggyi, Shan State, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 only 27 minutes ago. The disaster hit t a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicentre near Taunggyi, Shan State, Myanmar (Burma), in the afternoon on Friday 5 February 2021 at 5:47 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. It was felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Taunggyi (pop. 160,100) located 88 km from the epicenter, and Pyin Oo Lwin (pop. 117,300) 136 km away.
