Economists give this advice to the central government to deal with the recession

New Delhi: The government is on the target of opposition due to the ongoing economic slowdown in the country. Due to the recession, the industry business has come to a halt. The government also announces relief measures from time to time. But economists believe that the government needs to focus exclusively on rural areas. Former Chief Statistician Pranab Sen says that to boost the demand in the rural economy, special emphasis should be given on spending the amount of center-run schemes like PM-Kisan Yojana, MNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

If there is a need to allocate more funds for these schemes, then should not hesitate too. According to Sen, even if the government has to postpone the national highway projects for a couple of years, the rural areas should spend more and more money on the schemes. This statement of Sen is important because in the current financial year from April to July the pace of spending of budget amount of the ministries running schemes related to village and farmer has been low.

The total budget of the Ministry of Rural Development in the current financial year is about one lakh twenty thousand crores. But in the period from April to July, the ministry has spent only about 42 thousand rupees, which is 35 percent of the budgetary allocation. The condition of the rural economy has deteriorated due to the agrarian crisis.
