Ecuador and Uruguay qualified for the World Cup

After Brazil and Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay have also qualified for the World Cup football from South America, which is scheduled to be held in Qatar later this year. Third-placed team Ikveder suffered a 3-1 defeat to Paraguay on Thursday but despite that, he managed to make a direct entry into the World Cup with a 1-0 win over fourth-placed Uruguay's Peru.

Both Ecuador and Uruguay have 25 points and now another team is expected to reach here. Brazil and Argentina had already secured their places in the World Cup. The 5th-placed team from South America is set to face the Asian team in the international playoffs. Peru has 21 points and is set to finish on Tuesday with a win over Paraguay.

Colombia has also joined the race with a 3-0 win over Bolivia. They have to beat Venezuela in the last match and pray for Peru's defeat. Chile suffered a 4-0 defeat to Brazil but has 19 points and is also in the race for fifth place.
