Gayatri Prajapati trouble increases, ED in the illegal mining case

Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati is not getting any relief. Prajapati, admitted to the Medical College of Lucknow, was today questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the mining scam case. The ED questioned him about the mining scam probe and disproportionate assets. Earlier on July 16, questions were raised with Gayatri Prasad in the case.

It may be mentioned that Gayatri, who was the mining minister during the Akhilesh government's rule, had registered an FIR on January 2 this year on illegal allotment of 8 mining leases in Hamirpur district, ignoring the rules. The FIR referred to the investigation into the role of the then mining minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati.

It was on this basis that ED had registered a case of money laundering. The ED had registered a case against all the accused named in the CBI FIR. IAS B, accused in the scam. Several other accused, including Chandrakla, have been questioned.
