Education, the most powerful catalyst to speed up a country's progress: Naidu.

Chandigarh : On Friday, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu emphasised that good quality education must be affordable and accessible to everybody, emphasising that education is the most effective catalyst for a country's development. Naidu was speaking at the gathering during the Panjab University's 69th convocation.

''Education of good quality must become available to all, be affordable, and  it should lead to a positive transformation in people's outlook, societal cohesion, and inclusive national progress,'' the vice president said.

"There must be societal togetherness." "We must always harness the power of education and unleash the creative powers of young brains," he said, adding, "This should be taught to students  from the beginning." The event was attended by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattareya, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar.

Universities must lead the knowledge revolution with ground-breaking inventions and cutting-edge research, said Naidu. "You need to educate the country if you really want fast-paced development," he said.  65 percent of the country's population is under the age of 35, and 50 percent is under the age of 25. "If we empower, educate, enlighten, and encourage them," he said, "they will excel in their life and help the country excel in the world."

''The ultimate purpose of study is to make peoples' lives better, to make their lives happier. That should be the goal of each study project," he stated. Naidu went on to say that universities and governments should work together more closely so that solid policies can be developed. He said the new education policy would take into consideration the need for really making the education system Indian.

"The new education policy must be grasped in its entirety, and it must be followed to the letter." This is everyone's responsibility," the vice president stated. Naidu also underlined the need of maintaining peace as a requirement for success, and he urged all universities in the country to do so. "Educational institutions are knowledge-givers; education is not merely for a degree; education is for enlightenment and empowerment," he stated, urging colleges not to focus on other matters.
