Eight Malaysian higher education institutions achieved six stars in the Rating System for the Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (Setara) 2018/2019. The universities are Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, International Medical University and Monash University Malaysia. In addition, 14 private universities achieved six stars in the Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges (MyQuest) 2018/2019. The universities are SEGi College Subang Jaya, Sunway College, Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), SEGi College Kota Damansara, Kolej Poly-Tech Mara Kuantan, SEGi College Penang, Putra International College, Equator College, Despark College, SEGi College Sarawak, IBS College, Kolej Integrasi Perkembangan Kemahiran, Kolej Hafiz and Institut Antarabangsa Sains Mantin. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said Malaysian universities have recorded a continuous improvement in the 2018/2019 academic year. “Varsities have consistently provided high quality and high impact education to students. “This development also shows that the country's higher education sector is on the right track in realizing the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint (2015-2025) by emphasizing on academic quality, accountability and performance of every institution, ” she said in a statement on Friday, December 18.
