Goa Medical College reports 8 more deaths due to lack of oxygen

Panaji: The surge of corona infection has also taken an uphill rise in Goa. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of oxygen and due to this, cases of death of patients are on the rise. The death toll of corona patients is increasing even in Goa Medical College Hospital. In fact, eight more corona patients admitted here died on Saturday due to lack of oxygen. A total of 83 corona patients have died so far due to lack of oxygen in the medical college.

As per the recent information, the highest number of deaths have taken place between 2 pm and 6 am. Most of the doctors at the hospital are said to be saying, "These deaths were not due to oxygen crisis, but due to pneumonia caused by corona." Dr. S.M. Bandekar, Dean, Goa Medical College somewhere stated the same. He says the cause of these deaths cannot be directly hampered by oxygen supply, but most patients have died of pneumonia. He said oxygen is required to treat it.

On the other hand, the nurse and the family members of the patients have informed that there was instability in the availability of oxygen throughout the night. The log of the Central Pipeline of Oxygen prepared by the hospital is said to have revealed that there was a shortage of oxygen in 13 wards of the hospital. The shortage of oxygen for the longest interval was in Ward 149. It stayed there for 90 minutes. In this case, the staff of the hospital said that a large number of deaths due to oxygen cylinders present there have been prevented.
