New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the date for the by-elections to be held for 15 assembly seats in Karnataka. The Election Commission has announced to vote on these seats on December 5. Votes will be counted on 9 December. Earlier, the Election Commission had announced the by-elections to the assembly seats in Karnataka on October 21. According to the Election Commission, now the candidates for these seats will have to file the nomination papers by November 18, while the nomination papers will be examined on November 19. By-election results: know which party won in which state In fact, earlier the Commission had asked to postpone the by-election till the court decides on the unqualified legislators. On Thursday, the Election Commission said in the Supreme Court that they are ready to postpone the by-elections for the 15 seats in Karnataka. In fact, a petition challenging the disqualification of 17 Karnataka MLAs is pending in the Supreme Court, which is to be heard on 22 October. About 17 rebel MLAs were disqualified in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly due to which these seats were vacated. The 17 disqualified MLAs appealed in the Supreme Court on Monday. The MLAs appealed that they be allowed to contest elections. The court is scheduled to hear it on 22 October.
