USA: Despite Twitter's financial difficulties, Elon Musk is still working to improve the user interface of the platform. The CEO revealed some of the new features the business intends to add to the microblogging platform. This includes encryption, up to 10,000 characters in long tweets, and the option to reply to specific DMs with any emoji. The company has recently announced that it will not tolerate any violent speech. Musk is having trouble making his Twitter experiment work. Attracting advertisers, the platform's primary source of income, is still a challenge. Recently, the business used another round of layoffs to reduce costs. Esther Crawford, a devoted supporter of Musk, was fired this time. Musk responded to a user on Twitter by announcing that the company would "soon" increase the maximum character limit for long-form tweets to 10,000. The organization last month raised the character cap for Blue subscribers in the US to 4,000 characters. Whether or not the new upgrade will only be available to Blue subscribers is unknown. However, only six original emoji are available to the users. This is about to change. Musk said in another tweet that users will have the option to reply to Direct Messages (DMs) with any emoji of their choice. Twitter also intends to add encryption to Direct Messages. We will have to wait and see how it turns out. Musk made a new announcement in the wake of reports of a decline in Twitter's revenue. The Wall Street Journal reported a 40% year-over-year decline in the social media site's revenue and adjusted earnings for the month of December. The platform's revenue has dropped significantly as a result of advertisers leaving it. In December, Twitter's ad spending decreased by 71%. Musk was fined by the Turkish Competition Authority (Rekabet Kurumu) for his acquisition of Twitter. According to the board, the acquisition took place without its consent. In 2023, Musk will have to pay 0.01% of Twitter's Turkish gross revenue.
