'Emmy Awards: Jason Sudeikis thanks his kids for Ted Lasso's win'

The Emmy Awards 2021 were held in Los Angeles on September 19, and it was a star-studded affair. Some of the greatest performers were honored at the annual Television Academy Awards, such as actor Jason Sudeikis, who won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso. Sudeikis, who was dressed in a velvet tuxedo, ascended the stage to accept the prize and gave a touching speech.

"Thank you very much," the actor who plays the titular coach on the TV series Ted Lasso said at the start of his address. "So...heck of a year." Jason went on to add of the event, "I'd say this show is about family, mentors and instructors, and teammates, and I wouldn't be here if those three things weren't there in my life. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to my parents, Dan and Kathy, as well as my sisters, Kristin and Lindsay. I'd like to express my gratitude to my sisters who were chosen for reasons other than biology, such as Rachel. I'd want to express my gratitude to my children, Otis and Daisy."

Sudeikis also made the audience laugh when he made a joke about SNL founder Lorne not being there for his address because he was having a "dump." The actor also expressed gratitude to his writing team, saying that he is only as good as they make him look.

Ted Lasso was a major winner at the Emmys 2021, with Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein taking up the Supporting Actress and Actor awards, respectively. The program also won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
