Islamabad: Pakistan, which is reeling under an economic crisis, is reeling under the world these days. Pakistan no longer has money left to run its embassies. That is why the employees of the Pakistani Embassy in the US after Serbia have raised the issue of salaries. An employee of the Pakistani Embassy in Washington has resigned due to non-payment of salary. Pakistani newspaper 'The News' quoted sources as saying that due to lack of funds, the Pakistani Embassy in Washington has not paid salaries to some of its employees for nearly 4 months. According to the report, at least five of the local employees recruited on contract (contractual) in the Pakistani Embassy have not been paid a salary since August 2021. On the other hand, some employees have got salaries very late. One of the 5 employees working in the Embassy for the last ten years had given the resign in September due to late salary. These five employees were employed by the Embassy on the basis of annual contracts, but are no longer being paid by the Pakistani Embassy. These employees were reportedly employed here at a much lower salary. In the UNITED STATES, the salaries of these employees are from $2,000 to $2,500. The employees, whether permanent or on contract, who were hired by the Pakistani embassy, are also not being given health insurance or other benefits. Domestic workers are usually hired to assist in the consular section, which provides visas, passports, notarization and other consular services to overseas Indians.
