EURO 2016 - France bans sale of alcohol after clashes between Russia fans & England

FRANCE has banned the sale of alcohol at Euro 2016 after a series of violent clashes between England and Russia fans. "There are clear signs that some of them took part in unacceptable violence in Marseille," local police chief Adolphe Colrat said.

The interior ministry has urged the 10 host cities across France to ban the sale of alcoholic drinks in "sensitive areas" near stadiums and fan zones.

Denouncing the shocking violence seen in Marseille between English and Russian yobs, interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve said:

"The events which took place in Marseille are unacceptable. "Unacceptable for the authorities, unacceptable for society, unacceptable for football lovers.
