Facebook has created its own Supreme Court. Yes, it is a bit strange to hear, but it is true that Facebook has set up an oversight board which is being called the Supreme Court of Facebook. This Facebook board will take decisions based on freedom of expression and human rights. Also, it will give a quick verdict on objectionable content. The main function of Facebook's Oversight Board is to monitor the content of Facebook and Instagram and give short-term decisions on the content in question. It is believed that Facebook has taken this decision to stop fake news on social media and to keep the atmosphere clean. Facebook had informed about the formation of this board in the year 2018 itself. The oversight board will decide which content will remain on Facebook and Instagram and which will not. Apart from this, the same board will decide which content on Facebook and Instagram should be removed and which is not. The board consists of former editor of The Guardian newspaper Alan Rusiberger and former judge and VP of the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, the board also includes the former Prime Minister of Denmark, Hale Thoring-Schmidt. Oversight Board will also deal with all disputes regarding pages, profiles, groups and advertisements on Instagram and Facebook. There are a total of 20 people on this board. This board will settle any matter in a maximum of 90 days.
