Regina Dugan, chief of Facebook's secret research lab 'Building 8', is leaving the company just after 18 months of her appointment. The official said in a Facebook post on Tuesday night, "Today I declare that in the beginning of next year, I will leave Facebook to focus on a new effort and build it. " "I will be with leadership for the next few months and will continue to work so that the work of 'Building 8' is not affected. " She said, "This is a tough decision for me. We have done a great job together. There are many people here, who I personally and professionally will remember." “There is a tidal shift going on in Silicon Valley, and those of us in this industry have greater responsibilities than ever before,” Dugan said. “The timing feels right to step away and be purposeful about what’s next, thinking about new ways to contribute in times of disruption.” Facebook recently handed over the responsibility of all hardware projects to promote hardware products by promoting Andrew Boz Bosworth. It includes Virtual Reality (VR) company Asus Hardware and 'Building 8'. However, the company has not yet clarified that the responsibility of the head of 'Building 8' will be entrusted to Dugan's place. Chief Technology Officer Michael Schroepfer called it a “personal highlight” to work with Dugan. “She has built an amazing team and we will feel the positive impact of her work for years to come,” he said.
