The World Cup fever is on and the fans are leaving no stone unturned in expressing their support for the Indian team as Virat Kohli's men bid for the country's third World Cup title in England and Wales.
The Men in Blue will battle it out against the top teams of the world looking to lift the coveted trophy at the iconic Lord's Stadium on July 14th. Ahead of the start of the tournament, fans in Ludhiana came up with a unique way to cheer the Indian team.
A bakery in Ludhiana has made a World Cup-themed cake weighing around 20 kg. Harjinder Singh Kukreja, the owner of the bakery, said the cake was his way of wishing the Men in Blue luck for the cricketing extravaganza. The cake which is shaped like the World Cup trophy has been made over a period of three days by using Belgian chocolate. The cake also features MS Dhoni and Indian captain Virat Kohli.
"We are in full mood for celebration and this is not just a cake, it is our prayers that India lifts the World Cup again. India team is very strong this time and this is our way of saying 'Chak De India'," the owner said.
India head into the World Cup as one of the favourites as the Kohli-led side has been a dominant force in ODIs in the past couple of years. India has registered ODI series wins over South Africa, West Indies, Australia, and New Zealand in the run-up to the showpiece event and are currently the no.2-ranked side behind only hosts England.
