Farmers' Jantar Mantar stir to end today, to continue at Delhi borders

New Delhi: The farmers' agitation at Jantar Mantar in the country's capital will end on Monday evening after passing a 'no-confidence motion' against the Centre and no permission has been sought from the police to extend it. This information was given by an official of The Farmers Union of India (Bhakiu). He said the farmers' agitation, which started nine months ago against the Centre's three new agricultural laws, will continue on the borders of Delhi.

The Kisan Sansad, convened by Kisan Sangathan, Samyukta Kisan Morcha at Jantar Mantar, will also demand the resignation of the Central Government for not repealing the three controversial agricultural laws. Bhakiu media in-charge Dharmendra Malik told the media that "farmers' organizations will pass a "no-confidence motion" against the government in their 'Kisan Sansad' demanding the resignation of the BJP-led government. This Government is no longer trusted by the people, including the farmers, and it has no right to remain in power. ''

The Delhi Police had allowed farmers to demonstrate at Jantar Mantar from 22nd July to 9th August with a maximum of 200 people. A senior police official said, "Today is the last day of farmers' demonstration at Jantar Mantar here. As per the permission granted, they demonstrated peacefully on all these days and they will leave Jantar Mantar after their demonstration today (Monday) evening.''
